A Birthday Story

If I had to choose, I would say that out of all my birthdays to date, this one was my best. It turned into a birthday weekend, which made it even more fun. For me, anyway. Not for my birthday minions who served my every wish. (I'm kidding, friends and family - you're not minions.)

I was spoiled rotten with love and attention. I felt so blessed and loved! Not a bad way to turn another year older. In the state of Michigan we have to renew our car registration on our birthdays (or in the weeks leading up to it but yeah... that didn't happen) and even that was a joy! In and out! That never happens. This is my year. I can feel it.

Here are some pictures from the weekend.

On Friday night my friends threw me a super fun party. Here is a picture of some of the crowd:

Later when the party died down, my friend Doug (one of the hosts) started the "after party" which consisted of him tying food to the ribbons on the helium balloons and people competing to eat the food off the string the fastest. After each round, Doug cut the ribbon shorter, so that by the end, people had to take running leaps to get the food off the ribbon. The food was always weird, by the way. One round was broccoli. Another was frosting. And so on.

The next day I went out with Sarah and Sara. They may not have realized they were celebrating my birthday, but they were. Oh, they were. Sara made us a dinner that I've been dreaming about ever since. Amazingly delicious! Pork and fish tacos.

She gave me the recipe but we all know food is always better when someone else makes it for you. I wish I could write an entire blog post about how good those tacos were but I guess that would be weird. Right? Someone stop me or I will.

On Sunday I had a birthday dinner with my family. I am never happier than when I am with my family. They're great. The kids, especially, make me feel very loved. They love taking goofy pictures with me, and they are my favorite subjects to take pictures of as well! All of my nieces and nephews were there so I was a happy girl.

The best thing about birthdays is seeing people you love. I know I started this post saying that I got lots of attention, but really, I just loved being able to see so many loved ones in one weekend. The attention was just a bonus. Oh, and the presents. Those were good too. ;)
