Some things making me happy this weekend

(Random corn maze picture)
What had been a lingering cold the past couple weeks turned into full blown sinusitis this weekend. As you can imagine, I'm thrilled about this. But I can't complain too much because there have still been some things making me happy this weekend. Here are some of those things:

1. I went to a haunted corn maze with some friends. Before going in, we stood outside the corn maze, putting our scarves on and getting our tickets out (yay, Groupon!), and we got nervous. All we could hear from inside the corn was screaming and chainsaws. We started second guessing ourselves. The guys especially. I think they were worried about not looking manly or something. My friend and I were teasing them, that as women, we were supposed to be the scared ones, not them! But when we got inside, they were fine. My friend and I, on the other hand, were not! To make matters worse, one of the guys told one of the monsters my name, so behind me in the corn I heard a creepy voice saying, "Ellliiiiiizzzzzaaaabbbbeeeettthhh" over and over. No me gusta.

Back in the car, safe and sound, I was given the "most touchy feely award," or something like that. As if they didn't like it!! I'm just glad I survived.

2. We watched Watcher in the Woods afterward. Still scary after all these years! If you haven't seen it, you should. Just don't watch the alternate ending unless you want to undo all your spooky feelings. It's ridiculous.

3. Cool Touch Kleenex. Have you guys tried this? I don't know if I'd use it on a daily basis, but when I'm sick - wow. It's really nice. I'm in that stage of the illness where I keep flipping my pillow over looking for a cooler part to rest my head, so this Kleenex is rocking my world. How does it stay so cool? I don't know, and I'm trying not to think about it too hard.

4. This video staring Brandon Flowers, lead singer of The Killers, talking a little about his spiritual journey, and his religious beliefs. He's a Mormon, and so am I. This isn't something I typically talk about so much (though I'm very active in my church), but with the political situation here in the States, there has been a lot of political debate about what Mormons believe and who we are. Instead of letting other people make proclamations about that, we feel the need to say for ourselves who we are, and what we believe to be true. This video isn't at all preachy, just sincere. I liked it and thought I'd post it in case any of you were interested. Don't worry friends, I won't be any more in your face about my religious beliefs than I ever have been, but I might be sharing a bit more of this type of thing on my blog and I'm always willing to answer questions.

How has your weekend been? I'm laying in bed with nothing to do, so I'd love some updates!

That's hilarious about the haunted maze! I hate haunted anything, whether it's haunted for real or not. No thanks! I haven't heard of this magic Kleenex you have, but it sounds awesome! Oh, and it stays so cool by magic, as mentioned before. That's the only way. Thanks for the video, too - it's great! :)

Just a quick note, as cool as the kleenex are I love the tissues with vics. I think they actually help me get better faster. Again I can't use them every day but when I start wiping my nose every ten minutes they are amazing.

I saw the Brandon Flowers video yesterday and thought that it was very cool. It was good to see him talk about what was most important to him in life. I've always thought he was a great artist and a cool guy, but I definitely gained a lot of respect and admiration for him. The world needs more stand-up guys who people can look at and realize that you can do great things/be famous, and still stand up for what you believe in.

I love the Killers, and I love Brandon Flowers (imagining us holding hands walking through a meadow) why are all the good ones taken?
