Once there was a girl who was born in the middle of an awful snow storm on a cold dark January night. That girl (dramatic pause) was me. And that day was some odd years ago (noyb) on January 11th. What I'm trying to say is this: today is my birthday.

This is a picture of me at age 1.5. I know it's vain to say I was a cute kid, but this
whole post is about me, me, me, so I think it might be too late to worry about vanity.

Now, normally I dread my birthday, as you well know. I typically see every birthday as another nail in the coffin. But this year, I don't mind it. I mean, do I want to be older? No, not really. But it beats the alternative. And I enjoy life. So today, I am going to enjoy my birthday. And because it's only natural to be a little self centered on one's birthday (that's the excuse I'm making), I'm going to tell you a little about me in this post. Some of it you already know, but some of it will be new information, I promise.
To start, I'm going to tell you about a few things I love, starting with a little (heartfelt) kissing up:

1. I love when you comment on my blog. Yes, you.
2. I love Campbell's chicken noodle soup. So, so much.
3. I love warm summer evenings and spotting fireflies.
4. I love laughing really hard at a tv show, then quoting it later.
5. I love knee high socks and the warmth they provide.
6. I love the smell of corn tortillas.
7. I love telling scary stories around a campfire.
8. I love discovering a new favorite song.
9. I love keeping up on current events.
10. I love getting sucked into a really good book.

That is just a sampling of the many things I love. To balance things out, here are some things I do not like (most of these you already know if you read this blog a lot):

1. I don't like claymation.
2. I don't like muppets (except Kermit).
3. I don't like optical illusions.
4. I don't like yogurt.
5. I don't like Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

Ok, I'm done - that was enough focus on me, me, me today. But it's my birthday so you'll indulge me today, right?

Now I'd love to hear about you. What are some of your likes and dislikes? I'd love to learn more about you! I hope your 1-11-11 is as special as mine!

Yay YOU! Happy 1-11-11!! I like hearing these things about you, even though I knew them already. :)
I like the smell of books (new and old), reading good books, sharpening pencils, yogurt!, ordering art supplies, pens that write smoothly, the smell of the ocean, naps on the beach (naps anywhere), and dancing and singing along to music in my apartment (where no one can see me!).
I don't like tomatoes, mushrooms, bossy people, "A Christmas Story" (some people may want to flog me for that, but I just have never enjoyed that movie), and getting up early. :)

So glad you were born! Happy Birthday! I like zucchini, 70*F weather, THE internet, and DVR. I don't like truffles, anything < or > 70*F weather, and scary stories around a campfire.

Have you been waiting your whole life for 1/11/11? - I would have been. Superfun.
I don't claymation either..or that animation when you can't tell if it is real or cartoon. Creepy.
Happy Birthday!!!

Happy birthday Elizabeth! I am always completely 100% in favor of taking advantage of birthdays and making all your friends indulge you. That's what I do, so I'm always more than happy to return the favor :).

I like commenting on blogs, plain M&M's (especially in holiday colors), working from home, and trying new recipes. I don't like Michigan weather in Provo after moving to Provo to get away from Michigan weather. And raisins. I don't like those either.

Have an amazing day!

Happy Birthday!!

My birthday is on 9-9 so in 1999 it was 9-9-99 which was pretty cool, but I think I like 1-11-11 better.

I like trying new recipes and comments on my blog.

I don't like waking up early, Spam (the food or email version), or raisins.

Hope you have a great day!!

The only thing that I can think of, that would make this a better Birthday would be turning eleven. Then you would be 11/1/11/11.

I am with you on the claymation thing but I dislike Barney, more than I do the Muppets. I love mushrooms, especially sautéed in real butter with a little garlic. I think Olives ruin everything you put them on. I know more poetry and poets than any of my brothers. As much as I like your Grandmothers dating advice ( I myself have a weakness for girls with curly red hair) if, at the end of the "third" date after that long goodnight kiss, you whisper in his ear. So, have you ever tied someone up? He will be back for number four.
Happy Birthday Kiddo!

I like many things. Laughing out loud, making new friends, watching really old movies, The Twilight Zone, MUSIC, traveling, Mexican stuff, and birthday cake!

I don't like cafeteria food :( YUCK!

Happy Birthday Elizabeth!!!

I like getting letters in the mail, Singing, Sewing, snuggling babies(expecially with a nice snuggly blanket), my leopard print snuggie, anything chocolate, reading, strawberries, Barbie Movies and White Bean Chili (a little to much maybe).

I dislike mean people, people who walk up to me and tell me (or the kids)their opinion on my parenting and I also dislike yogurt.

I love claymation.
I love the muppets.
I love time period romances.
I love you.

Does that mean you don't like me now? te-he. Happy Birthday. I'm sending thoughts of homemade corn tortillas, mole, sugar cookies, christmas lights hanging on the wall of our missionary apartment, memories of daydreaming about the beach, lemon pepper chicken legs, and mostly laughing our heads off while eating lemon poke cake.

My favorite thing is good music played really well.

I saw Ferris Bueller when it came out and liked it, but with repeated viewings over the years, have grown to hate it. In contrast, I met the Downies a long time ago and over the years my opinion has gotten more favorable.

I'd be careful about asking a date if he's ever tied someone up. He might respond with "does this rag smell like chloroform?"

Happy birthday Elizabeth! You get better every year.

Now go find a nice nerd boy and marry him while your grandmother is still around.

I love "The Dick Van Dyke Show" reruns, Peter, Paul, and Mary, raspberries, laughing really hard, being with people I love, singing out loud when no one's around, reading, lying on the beach at Ludington (or anywhere) and listening to the waves hit the shore, and learning new things.

I don't like peas!

Unfortunately I love all the things you hate (except yogurt.. I'm afraid to try because I'm allergic to milk sugar).. but good news.. I love all the things you LOVE too!! YAY!

I love when songs apply to your life, I love dance choreography, I love staying up late chatting online, I love cuddling, I love the gym, and I love when people show you they care about you. :)

I love sparkly snow and frozen lakes, featherbowling (just the idea of it), old friends, and fried pickles.

I don't love dangerous road conditions, gray skies, and olives of any kind.

Happy birthday and see you soon!
