Wednesday Thoughts

One of the perks we get where I work is that a massage therapist comes in every so often and we only have to pay half the cost of a seated massage. Since I threw my back out over the weekend I was really looking forward to this. About half way through the massage, the massage therapist told me she's six months pregnant. Suddenly I felt really guilty that she was on her feet massaging me. I especially felt guilty that I had requested that she "put more elbow into it." (I didn't really say that, calm down.)

In other thoughts, I was walking through a big parking lot today on my way to my hair appointment. In the parking lot, in between rows of cars there was a small island with a skinny, medium height tree. Underneath it a man was smoking a cigar. This struck me as very strange. The businesses surrounding that part of the parking lot are Chuck-E-Cheese, MC Sports, my hair salon, a gym, and a Christian book store. Which one of these did he leave to smoke a cigar and why did he choose the parking lot island to smoke it on? And why a cigar? And why in the middle of the afternoon?

Ok, last thought for the day. You know that awesome Old Spice commercial with the "I'm on a horse" guy? Everyone seems to love it, myself included. (Many spoofs have been done of it but the best one I've seen is the one some BYU students did - link.) Well, I read last night that even though the ad is incredibly popular, sales are down. One theory is that people associate Old Spice with their grandfathers or other older men. So I decided to check it out for myself today at Target. I grabbed the most generic looking Old Spice deodorant and took a whiff. My review: Me gusta. I'd even go so far as to say me gusta mucho. Not that I expect my review to have any effect on the sales, but I was curious. Do you guys like it? Who is the ad really targeted at? Do women buy body wash for their husbands/boyfriends? Do men want to be like that guy?

Apparently this Wednesday thoughts is more about Wednesday questions. I hope someone out there has answers. Especially the cigar smoking man - if that was you I saw today, explain yourself!

Happy Wednesday.

Eh, a lot of women work while pregnant.

I agree, I'm 8.5 months pregnant and still training dogs at the moment...granted I take my husband with me and we train together, but it depends on the gal. I wouldn't want my clients to feel guilty for making me work, after all, if I didn't want to or couldn't, I wouldn't.
On the old spice thing, I like old spice too...my husband used to use it but has found something he likes better so no more old spice. But it does smell good!

Yeah, she actually said that she was glad to be working and that she gets bored when she's not working. I just wish her job didn't involve doing physical labor on me. haha

I like Old Spice! It's very manly. I love the Old Spice guy even more, though. And I wish that I had answers about Cigar Man, but I'm just as curious as you. Maybe after a long day doing inventory at the Christian book store and a quick workout at the gym he just needed a good ceeegar. How did your back feel after the massage, though??

I've been wearing Old Spice deodorant since high school. Old Spice used to donate their "High Endurance Red Zone" deodorant to the sports teams I played on and I liked the smell.

As a teenager I also used their body wash line, but as I got into my 20's reverted back to using soap.

There you go Elizabeth, now you know what kind of deodorant Ryan from The Singles Ward wears. Right now I have "Swagger".

I love Old Spice commercials and I don't hate the smell of it. Certainly beats all the 'bros' who take a shower in Axe body spray before they leave the house.

Old Spice = nast. I've never liked the smell. I dated a guy who liked him some old spice. Needless to say, we are no longer together.

I had a geeky neighbor growing up who lived with his grandparents. His grandpa gave him a bottle of Old Spice, and he insisted on slathering it on everyday. Ugh. Ever since then, I've hated the smell. As weird as this sounds, I really just like the smell of soap on my guy.

My guess is that the guy smoking the cigar was Chuck-E himself. He needed a good smoke after being climbed on by all those kids.

Alan wears old spice deodorant. I like it. I think my dad wears old spice deodorant too, though. No analysis of that coincidence, please.

I love that commercial, and the one where he bakes a delicious cake in the kitchen he made for you. And I would totally buy Old Spice for Sterling based on the comedic value of the marketing, BUT my dad has always exclusively used it has aftershave. I get a whiff of Old Spice and I think of my Dad, and that's not sexy to me.

Oh and thanks for the quotes on the side, they're cracking me up. I love the one from the last season finale:

Carroll: [about Sully] You know what a great pilot would have done? Not hit the birds. That's what I do every day, not hit birds. Where's my ticket to the Grammys?

How did you get so funny, and how the hey do you come up with these things. And where do you find the others. I'm so grateful that, even though were no longer comps, I get to laugh with you! Thanks.

I was standing on the bus the other day and someone I sort of know on the bus was very insistent that I take his seat because I was pregnant. I'd been sitting all day and my ankles were swollen, so standing actually felt pretty good. But he wouldn't believe me. He said he felt guilty sitting when I was standing. He finally gave in, but I don't think he was convinced that I really did want to stand.

Life is so hard when you're pregnant. People should really give us more of a break. And we should all get free massages.

lol here here on the free massages Erin! And Elizabeth I agree that it gets boring when you stop working. I finished my last client last week and other then a BUNCH of housework that needs to be done I'm not doing much, BORED stiff! CANT do much, but I still have the desire to get up and go! So let her work if she wants to:-)
