Flip Flopping

It's that time of year again. Time to shed the shoes and socks and slip on the sandals... or sandal's more controversial cousin: the flip flop.

Emotions run high when it comes to flip flops. Some people hate them because of that sound they make - you know that sound. Others swear by them and make them their summer staple.

Personally, I like flip flops. I know they annoy some people so at times I feel self conscious, but mostly I don't. I mean, I use a Ped Egg, my toenails are painted, my flip flops are cute, and my feet smell like flowers. I don't see the problem.

What do you think? Let's break it down.

Cons:
That flip flop sound when someone's walking down the hall.
Foot nudity and all that goes along with that (some people have gross feet, not to mention the smell).
The tan line. It's not good.

Pros:
They're convenient - no straps or laces, just slip 'em on and go.
They're inexpensive so you can have a lot of different pairs.
You can show off your cute pedicure.

While you're thinking about it, here's a video for your viewing pleasure. Don't let this sway you since none of you (I hope) are anything like this guy. Oh, and I'm making a poll to make it easier for you to weigh in.

I am all about flip-flops. A couple of my pairs are really loud, but I don't think anything can compare to the "squish squish squish" that we've heard around here recently.

My favorite thing about that video was the use of The Specials' "Monkey Man." Love The Specials - check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZ2oXzrnti4.

In my personal opinion, the human foot was specifically designed to have a flip-flop placed on it. There is no other footwear.

That video was so funny. I love how someone had to nudge him the flip flop and then he lost both of them. He was trying really hard to play it off cool, but he was having a heck of a time with the flip flops.

I love them. I have learned not to wear them to church though since I am usually late and that is LOUD!

There are no other shoes during summer.

I wear flip flops till there is more than 3 inches of snow (and sometimes even them. I hate socks. Can't stand them, So I wear flips flops religiously. Sometimes my feet aren't beautiful, but they're feet, we walk on them! They can't always be beautiful. I currently own 7 pairs.

I'm all for flip-flops! I love the freedom they give! My feet need air!! :) They're sad right now in socks and shoes. That wasted guy is ridiculous! I hope he saw the video and realized how absurd he looked. Ha!

My flip-flops are my fave footwear! But, I have a love-hate relationship with the vicious cycle created by flip-flops...one must have beautiful feet to be so naked in a flip-flop, but your feet get all dirty and heels all jagged by dragging along a flip-flop all day...so the answer is lots of summertime pedis! :) YAY! :)

I just bought a fresh new pair of flip flops and a foot care kit so I'm prepared. I live in them when it gets warm, only drawbacks I ever have are how dirty/dry my feet get wearing them sometimes and the lack of foot support (I probably shouldn't be walking marathon distances in them anyway).

Revel in your flip flop wearing while you can. I'm one of the unlucky few with nasty dancer feet. I have so many onions, bunions and corns that I could probably make a stew.

How drunk do you have to be not to be able to side your fet into your flip flops, ha! ha! ha! He deserved that cheer at the end.

Elizabeth, be careful of that foot egg. I used one for a while and it turned the bottom of my feet a tough leather and it tooks me months to get my normal soft...or sorta soft soles again. Funny blog. Just the kind I like.

We're all for ladies in flip-flops, especially if they're over 5'7.

Under 5'7, please do all guys a favor and don't wear flip-flops or flats to church; heels only. 1-3", your choice. Thank you.

I vote for heels - high heels

I think flip-flops are beach wear or very casual wear.

An admirer from the distance. ;)

Oh my gosh, those sticky sandals are ridiculous!!! I can not stop laughing at them! I can only imagine how gross they'd get after one day of use. Yuck.

To be completely honest flip flops are a year round staple in my wardrobe. I have worn them in the snow.
