Well done, sister suffragettes!

I'm no history expert, but I do know that women haven't always been allowed to vote. This election day I have to express my gratitude for the women who worked so hard to get the right to vote for all women! I've thought about them a lot lately and feel very indebted to them.

I've always been excited about voting. When I turned 18, the first thing I did was register to vote! I have my parents to thank for my voting enthusiasm because they have always encouraged us to vote and be involved. My sister and I will sometimes joke about how we occasionally get calls from our dad saying, "did you vote today!?" And we say, "vote for what?" because we didn't realize there was a school board election or something like that. So then we have to quickly read up and on it and go down to the school to vote. It's easy to sometimes forget about the smaller scale local elections, but my parents have taught us to care and be aware.

Whether the election is big or small, it's really a wonderful thing to have your opinion heard. I know I'm just one person among millions, but I take my vote very seriously with the belief that every vote counts. I'm excited that election day is finally here. Today is a historic and exciting day! I hope you'll all get out and vote! Happy election day.

Happy Election Day!!!

I voted last week. I'm glad I could still vote from afar, but I have to admit that it just wasn't as exciting as actually going to the polls, standing in line, and voting on election day. It's a little more exciting that way.

But I'm still way excited for today. I'm tempted to stay home and watch the election news coverage all day. BooYa!

Happy voting!

Thanks for writing this post! :)
I saw "Iron-Jawed Angels" with Hilary Swank and vowed to NEVER take lightly my right to vote. Trust me, watch that film...it'll do the trick!

"Votes for women step in time, votes for women step in time! Never need a reason, never need a rhyme, votes for women step in time!" Yay for voting! I got a little misty-eyed as I filled in those little bubbles today. What an amazing and historic day! And it's true about those phone calls from Dad - he's so good about making sure we're informed! "What's all this? What's all this? What's all this?!" Sorry...got a little carried away with the Mary Poppins song...

I got misty eyed too! I had to wipe my eyes a bit before I walked away from the little voting booth. It's been a long election season and it's an exciting day.

It was amazing last night when Obama talked about the 106 year old woman who lived before women or African-Americans had equal access to the ballot.

I enjoyed this post. We've discussed it before, but your dad's story sounds familiar to my own. My mom calls everyday to ensure that I send in my mail-in ballot and then forces me to call the county clerk's office to ensure that they receive it. She also warns that this is important for my future political career. She's singlehandedly grooming me for elected office against my will.

Thanks for the comment on my blog. Yes, the pic of Jessica is incredible, and it will remain on my blog if you ever need amusement.

Love this post. Seriously, for some reason I get chills every time I go to the polls. Voting is just such an amazing process and a right so many people fought for for so long.

I'm kind of embarrassed to admit that I have never voted, I'm not even registered to vote. I believe that is how 'They' find you.
