Remember me?

I'm baaaaaaackkk!

That is definitely the longest I've gone without blogging. I came down with pneumonia so bad I pretty much dropped off the face of the earth for the past two weeks!  It was a long recovery, with periods where there seemed to be no improvement whatsoever. But I'm feeling a ton better now and am back to life.

While I was sick, I slept a lot, watched a lot of Netflix, read some, and tried not to feel too stressed out. Being sick is stressful! Life goes on without you when you're sick, as it should, but it's stressful to not be a part of it. Especially because parts of it demand you continue to participate.

I had to avoid watching anything too funny while I was sick because even laughing a little bit would cause a coughing fit. Adele Dazeem almost put my recovery back several days. Remember that? When John Travolta announced Idina Menzel and called her Adele Dazeem? I laughed about that for at least two days.  It was really bad. The coughing was too much. I had to just stop thinking about Adele Dazeem. That was no small task but I eventually managed it.

Since comedies were out of the question, I watched some drama series on Netflix to pass the time in bed. One is called "Call the Midwife." Lots of friends had recommended this to me and they were right - the show is so good.

It takes place in the late 1950's in London and follows the lives of the nuns and midwives who attend to a bad section of town. It's completely charming and funny and sweet and sad. And the babies! There are so many cute babies! My heart melted.

The next show I watched is called "Hell on Wheels." It's about a mobile community by the same name that built the first transcontinental railroad after the Civil War. This show might not be for everyone (violent and kind of raw) but I loved it. I was completely hooked and now I can't wait for the new season.

Once I finished this series, I started looking for another, and based on the reviews I thought I'd give The Walking Dead a chance. I'm not the slightest bit interested in zombies, but I'd heard good things so I thought why not. And honestly, even though I watched several seasons, I do not get the appeal of this show. I just kept watching to see if it would get better. The characters, in my opinion, are not the slightest bit interesting. And any time you think a new character might be interesting, they get killed off.

Another frustration with the show is that it's basically only about the characters constantly running from zombies. There's no real research or understanding about why people are turning into zombies, and there's no global look at how the plague is playing out in other areas. It's just a nightmare. Running running running. And the guts. Guts everywhere. Very little character development. And the people we're supposed to care about are hard to care about. Basically only two people on the show are even kind of likable.

Ok, I'm done. I give The Walking Dead a big "meh."

And there you have it. My reviews of three non-comedies. Now that I'm healthier and it's getting warmer (in theory), I will probably be watching less tv. But I'm always open to more recommendations, so if you have any, please pass them on!

Thank you so much to all of you who checked in on me, sent me cookies and other surprises, and took care of me while I was recuperating. It meant so much to me! I am blessed.

And now that I'm feeling better, be prepared for more frequent blog posts. I still have a lot to say on the important issues in life (like Full House, crafting, and Buzzfeed articles)!

First of all, I like your new header-glad you're sticking with Doc and Marty. Second, I'm glad you're well! I'm starting to see grass. It's brown but better than snow. Welcome back to the land of the living.
